Carol, the movie has a few memorable moments. The theme is post Orwelian, that behind Big Brother, there's a dedicated all powerful and covert goverment that simply manipulates how we percieve truth through the media. Dustin Hoffman and DiNiro play the starring roles. What links it to the current situation is that the covert action, and the movie, begins as a White House response to the President having had an affair in the office near the Oval office. DeNiro is the cleansweep man brought in to both dilute the scandal and divert the public's/ and press's attention for twelve days... when the national election occurs.

There's an uncanny lookalike scene on a TV screen in the movie to the scene we're so familiar with of a young lady with a beret on hugging the president at a rally. The other lookalike to reality is that in the movie they find a country to go to war with (all done through staged hollywood production) to divert the country's attention. This of course parallels Iraq... in the movie it was Albania.

To illustrate the depth of media and movie distrust we live with, a young lady, one row back when asked after she saw the movie, if it was possible answered... "Sure, Clinton people probably made this movie to cover up the coverup..."
