OFF Topic, Virus Alert. Just a copy of message I received, think it's a good one. One of our clients sent this e-mail VIRUS warning to our offices today. We immediatly thought of all our other clients and users... and how this VIRUS might effect them if they did not know about it intime. This is a Virus Alert -- Watch Your Email Messages. If you receive an email titled: JOIN THE CREW ( DO NOT open it.) It will erase everything on your hard drive. Forward this letter out to as many people as you can. This is a new, very malicious virus and not many people know about it. This information was announced yesterday morning from IBM; please share it with everyone that might access the internet. Once again, pass this along to EVERYONE in your address book so that this may be stopped. Also, do not open or even look at any mail that says: RETURNED OR UNABLE TO DELIVERY ( DO NOT open it.) This virus will attach itself to your computer components and render them useless. Immediately delete any mail items that say this. 1. NT has always been SPCT's biggest customer this is common knowledge, I believe the second largest is either Qualcomm or LGIC in Korea. 2. SPCT and PWAV make nothing but base station amps. The portable stuff is all easy stuff vs. the base station amps, you just pick them from a catalog nowadays, Motorola is the biggest supplier of the small PA's used in the actual cellular phones but they only cost about $25, vs. the cost of base staion amplifier which can range from $1000 for a FM unit to upwards of $50K for a multicarrier amplifier. SPCT makes amplifiers which support ALL known modulation formats i.e. GSM, TACS, etc. 3. SPCT did'nt lose biz from what I here NT did. They did thhis same thing to them about two years ago. NT just isn't ordering as much TDMA stuff from either SPCT or HP/Avantek as they forcasted. That is the only real downturn (temporarily) for SPCT. 4. I think SPCT and PWAV own about 95% of the total market. MPD AML, and some really minor players are out there, but look at the sales volume that tells the REAL story. 5. SPCT did not lose any biz to PWAV that I know, it's just the NT downturn that's hurting them now. 6. Up to now Nokia made their own (very low tech stuff), that's why PWAV could get in, they also a sort of low tech company. 7. Long term there are three OEM's that will need PA's from either SPCT or PWAV; NT, Qualcomm, and Lucent. Lucent used to do most internally, but now seem to understand that expertise, like consultants on the outside make more sense. It's a crap shoot between SPCT and PWAV. SPCT still has the technology advantage and OEM's like that aspect. PWAV has proven technology and manufacturing capacity but so as SPCT in certain products. PWAV long term will have to show a lot more technological savy to impress OEM's that are not foreign in nature, like Samsung. I can't estimate the total market share between all the OEM's you mentioned. Sorry. ,RFJock
