Ali Babble and his Forty Peeves are really getting old. We know he doesn't actually believe his own noise-level opinions because even the master of babble can read a black-and-white chart. Never one to be swayed by facts, he will continue to babble until the final chapter (11) is written on AMD next year.

StockMoon, <All these board makers fell on their face, because they could not produce boards cheaper than Intel could.>

I repeat for d0rks like you: you are wrong, they could
easily produce cheaper boards. But could not produce
them FASTER. Because Intel used INTERNAL PRELIMINARY
information/specifications to design these board.
Besides, they were Intel customers for the chipsets...

P.S. You are the man to talk about shame..
Add "r" between "oo" in the above:-)

Stockman; Since Intel made both the chipsets and the CPUs they could always price the product under the outside board makers. It was a form of vertical integration that partly backfired as it forced other chip set makers to cut their prices making Intel also drop prices to the point where the motherboard operation at Intel was not as profitable as other uses of capital. I did not follow it closely, but after a while the Intel share of motherboards fell, but they are still a major factor.
Anyone got details on this?, it was in the EE press at the time.
