<<Does the inclusion of full lookup table data and parallel processing in each card have a down side --perhaps in cost?>> the benefits looke for are increased performance, scalability, and layer3 routing without sacrificing performance. similar to lookiing at the latest pentium processor, the customer pays for the features so long as they meet a need. ofcourse this will not replace all models, as intel still sells older pentium models as new chips arrive. most companies do not place price as the first criteria in choosing a product.
