Short seller Jim Chanos says he changed his Tesla short into put position
Jan. 20, 2021 12:58 PM ET Tesla, Inc. (TSLA) By: Josh Fineman, SA News Editor 106 Comments

Notable short seller Jim Chanos said he transformed his Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) short into a put position: commented in interview on CNBC.

Chanos said that two years ago in January 2019 the 2022 and 2023 consensus EPS estimates were higher than they are today when the stock was trading at $50/share split adjusted.

"That kind of tells you a little bit about what's happened in the marketplace in that valuations have just gone parabolic for basically a company that's still, in the eyes of analysts, earning at or below where they thought it would be earning two years ago. That's kind of incredible,'' Chanos said.
