I think our major complaint about Trump here is that he was not as ruthless as we wanted him to be.

‘A Total Failure’: The Proud Boys Now Mock Trump
In a Nov. 8 post in a private channel of the messaging app Telegram, the group urged its followers to attend protests against an election that it said had been fraudulently stolen from Mr. Trump. “Hail Emperor Trump,” the Proud Boys wrote.

But by this week, the group’s attitude toward Mr. Trump had changed. “Trump will go down as a total failure,” the Proud Boys said in the same Telegram channel on Monday.

As Mr. Trump departed the White House on Wednesday, the Proud Boys, once among his staunchest supporters, have also started leaving his side. In dozens of conversations on social media sites like Gab and Telegram, members of the group have begun calling Mr. Trump a “shill” and “extraordinarily weak,” according to messages reviewed by The New York Times. They have also urged supporters to stop attending rallies and protests held for Mr. Trump or the Republican Party.

'I'm the laughing stock of my family': QAnon believers implode as they watch Biden getting sworn in

Brad Reed
January 20, 2021
rawstory.com

President Joe Biden was sworn into office on Wednesday, and some believers in the QAnon conspiracy theory have apparently realized that they have wasted years of their lives believing in a complete fabrication.

As flagged by Jared Holt of Right Wing Watch, a QAnon group chat that occurred during Biden's inauguration found many one-time faithful followers disillusioned with the false claims they had been sold over the last four years.

"Well I'm the official laughing stock of my family now," wrote one. "Awesome."

"OMG none of this was real," wrote another.

NBC News reporter Ben Collins, who has been covering the QAnon phenomenon since it first started gaining traction on social media, has similarly found devotees slowly realizing that they've been had.

"I dont (sic) think this is supposed to happen?" asked one while watching the Biden inauguration. "How long does it take the fed (sic) to run up the stairs and arrest him?"

"It's like being a kid and seeing the big gift under the tree thinking it is exactly what you want only to open it and realize it was a lump of coal," wrote another.

And the Daily Beast's Will Sommer flags a QAnon post that simply reads, "I'm about to puke."

QAnon believers struggle with inauguration.

Followers of QAnon, the pro-Trump conspiracy theory, have spent weeks anticipating that Wednesday would be the “Great Awakening” — a day, long foretold in QAnon prophecy, when top Democrats would be arrested for running a global sex trafficking ring and President Trump would seize a second term in office.

But as President Biden took office and Mr. Trump landed in Florida, with no mass arrests in sight, some believers struggled to harmonize the falsehoods with the inauguration on their TVs.

Some QAnon believers tried to rejigger their theories to accommodate a transfer of power to Mr. Biden. Several large QAnon groups discussed on Wednesday the possibility that they had been wrong about Mr. Biden, and that the incoming president was actually part of Mr. Trump’s effort to take down the global cabal.

“The more I think about it, I do think it’s very possible that Biden will be the one who pulls the trigger,” one account wrote in a QAnon channel on the messaging app Telegram.

Others expressed anger with QAnon influencers who had told believers to expect a dramatic culmination on Inauguration Day.

“A lot of YouTube journalists have just lost one hell of a lot of credibility,” wrote a commenter in one QAnon chat room.

Still others attempted to shift the goal posts, and simply told their fellow “anons” to hang on and wait for future, unspecified developments.

“Don’t worry about what happens at 12 p.m.,” wrote one QAnon influencer. “Watch what happens after that.”

And some appeared to realize that they’d been duped.

“It’s over,” one QAnon chat room participant wrote, just after Mr. Biden’s swearing-in.

“Wake up,” another wrote. “We’ve been had.”

Followers hoping for guidance from “Q,” the pseudonymous message board user whose posts power the movement, were bound to be disappointed. The account has been silent for weeks, and had not posted Wednesday.

QAnon Supporter Asked Authorities If He Was Being ‘Duped’ After Expecting Pence Arrest at Insurrection: Testimony
ALBERTO LUPERONJan 20th, 2021, 2:35 pm

Doug Jensen

A new administration is in, and now-former President Donald Trump left office without pardoning any of the defendants in the D.C. insurrection. Naturally, that means those cases will move forward. Case in point: Iowa man Douglas A. Jensen, 41, who was identified as the figure in QAnon apparel leading a crowd up steps in the Capitol Building after hero police officer Eugene Goodman.

Testimony at a detention on hearing on Tuesday detailed what Jensen allegedly thought would happen on Jan. 6 in Washington D.C.—and the FBI said he asked investigators if he was being “duped.”

“He said he went to DC to receive big news from Donald Trump,” testified FBI Special Agent Tyler Johnson, according to the Associated Press. Trump notably gave an incendiary speech in which he continued to lie that he actually won the 2020 presidential election and that it was being stolen from him. He urged supporters to “fight,” falsely claimed Vice President Michael Pence had the ability to unilaterally reject Electoral College results, and falsely said he would go with his supporters to the Capitol.

The ensuing chaos resulted in Trump supporters taking over the building. Five people died: four supporters, and one Capitol police officer. A number of supporters chanted “hang Mike Pence” after the VP did not reject the electoral college results.

As for Jensen, he is being prosecuted in federal court with charges including civil disorder; and assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers or employees.

In Special Agent Johnson’s testimony, the defendant claimed to be a true believer of QAnon. (The short version is that this is a conspiracy theory purporting that the world is run by a cabal Satanist pedophiles that Trump was ordained to defeat). Jensen allegedly believed that Pence and some members of Congress would be arrested after the break-in at the Capitol.

The defendant allegedly maintained that he still believed in QAnon, and that the FBI and CIA were corrupt, but even so, he asked if the news about the arrests of Pence and members of Congress was legit.

“Am I being duped?” he said. “Can you guys let me in on that if you know those arrests are real?”

Assistant U.S. Attorney Virgnia Bruner asserted that Jensen was too dangerous to let go, and that he could not be trusted to go to court if released. Assistant Federal Defender Joe Herrold asserted that the defendant’s wife–who is not a QAnon proponent and recommended he speak to police–could have supervision over him. Though Jensen was fired after news of his involvement at the insurrection, he has another job offer, Herrold said.

It remains to be seen if the judge will allow Jensen to be released.
