<<I think I recall a post from Comdex about the external drive fitting into a stand that was connected to the pc. I don't recall if I read it in the Rainbow Room review or if it was in that wacky Comdex report those 2 guys wrote. Anyone else know?>>

Yeah. I was at the Rainbow Room demonstration and filed some of the initial reports on TMF. For the press demo, Iomega snapped a photo of several of the OEM speakers who were present (and moi!), then inserted the clik! disk into a portable external clik! drive that was cabled to a laptop PC via a separate recharging/docking station. Kim Edwards said that this external form factor would probably be manufactured first, implying a re-play of the original aftermarket PP Zip strategy (i.e. build demand at retail, then invite licensees and OEMs). He also suggested that the aftermarket device could be built in several power configurations: to use walkman-style disposable batteries, a rechargeable nicad, or direct AC powersource via a transformer. If memory serves, the demo involved pasting the photo image into a Powerpoint slide, printing it to an HP printer, then concluded by removing the disk again and inserting it into a prototype internal clik! drive in a cabinet attached to an InFocus projector, where the Powerpoint slide was projected onto a screen visible from all over the room.
