Yo-yo in memory prices

The average selling price of DRAM in 1998 is expected to hit $5.80,
down from $6.25, which was the average selling price last year,
according to statistics from IC Insights Inc., Scottsdale, Ariz. But
next year, the average selling price is expected to increase to $6.75.
SRAM, meanwhile, is expected to increase this year to $3.91 and hit
$4.15 in 1999.

dj, are you recommending a long position on mu at $34+? how about going on record for a chnage so we all can see how your analysis corresponds to investment gains and losses.

mu made $1 and small change last year from ops. this included 2 week vacations and the like - which are all but meaningless long term. the big pickle last year was the korean holdback of inventory. THEY WILL NOT DO THAT AGAIN. why? mu stole their market share and talked smack about the koreans. management thinks a lot like lawyers. they are so consumed with winning each battle that they are not savvy enough to understand that the war can be more easily won by conceding some battles.

i eagerly await your investment recommendation on mu now that they are only losing $1.00 or so per chip and trading at nearly $35.

the last time we were here i more than quadrupled my put money - which was 87% higher than my normal put amount.
