If he doesn’t boycott will the federal government pay for his defense like they would for a President?

Conviction requires 2/3 majority, no way it will happen. As to constitutionality of it, there is precedent of senate trying private citizen after they resigned from office, so it’s fine for the senate to proceed with the trial. It’s fine for Trump to boycott it too. Conviction can’t happen without quite a few Republican senators voting for it.

There will be no trial. Trump will present overwhelming evidence of the lies being spread (just read real man’s parroting of dem/rino speak) & crying lying sycophantic chuck will ignore the facts. Great show if the networks dare to cover it & the factual evidence of the Dems treason imo.

If they attempt to try him, I would hope that Trump would boycott it.

Prof Turley posted at The Hill on Jan 16 that skipping the trial may be Trump's wisest and best path to take:

...for soon-to-be citizen Donald Trump, the best defense may be no defense at all.

From a purely strategic perspective, I believe Trump may be wise to skip any trial.
