CARGILL New Y2K Contract
===============================================================
Cargill, based in Minneapolis, Minn., U.S.A., is an international marketer, processor and distributor of agricultural, food, financial and industrial products with some 79,000 employees in more than 1,000 locations in 72 countries and with business activities in 100 more. Cargill does about 56BB in annual revenues.

Cargill is an absolute giant. It is the largest privately held grain company in the US. I once heard (and don't know if it's true) that they had the port at New Orleans entirely tied up with their grain shipments for a span when some bottleneck was occurring. The
reason they are not well known is that they are private.

However, grain futures traders keep a close eye on Cargill's hedging. Anytime you eat a grain product, there's a good chance that the grain passed through Cargill's ownership at some point. They are major exporters. Cargill is to grain what a Parsons or Bechtel is to engineering/construction - enormous. Karl Drobnic

The company's Y2K business continues to grow broadly. The present Y2K client base stands at more than 30 with NEW ADDITIONS including:
- General Motors
- Medeva Pharmaceuticals
- Kraft Foods
- TRW
- Pillsbury
- Occidental Petroleum
- UNOCAL
- Cargill
- The U.S. Mint
- and others.
The scope of these engagements ranges from early, single plant pilots to multi-plant programs. The company expects the scope of these projects to grow as is consistent with its experience with its existing Y2K client base.

The company recently has completed the inventory and assessment phase of two multi-plant, multi-national engagements that are now expected to move quickly into the conversion planning and remediation stages. The company has completed a proposal for the first of these that includes a total program estimate of more than $6,500,000.
