What would the punishment be? What would constitute a "lie"? If someone lies but actually believes the lie, is it still a lie? Are all lies created equal? There are "white lies" and there are "black lies" (Ok, I just made up the latter term, but lies like Holocaust denial are black lies). And then there are also grey lies.

Perhaps we SHOULD put people on TV under oath!
After all, they're conveying information on public channels.
