Stephen... CPQ/Canon

Although I've been in Japan many times. Travelled throughout the country and established distribution chains through both local and
foreign companies, Japan is an enigma. They say "Japanese Mystery".

Japanese corporations are satisfied with 3% net profit. This is about
average. Protected domestic market share, government subsidies and lack of shareholder pressure, on management, allows managements to seek market share and not profit.

I'll check to see if George Mu (Commercial Attachee) is still at the embassy in Tokyo and get his opinion.

IMO - CPQ would only benefit from investments if it is strongly associated with a benefit to Canon as well.
Appears to be a good move on CPQ's side. Let's see how the relationship develops. (How does CPQ/DEC fit into Canon product
offering? How strongly will Japanese management edorse CPQ/DEC to
its sales force?)
I doubt Japanese customers will call Dell directly.
