They didn't believe it was stolen, they were told it was stolen, by Trump.
Which was one of (not the only one BTW) or the reasons they believed it was stolen. Even if it was the only reason your statement is rather bizarre, it would just mean they believed it because Trump said it, but they still believed it.

Did Trump believe it or was he lying? Not sure, either is quite possible. Doesn't matter much in this context. Assume its dishonest. Its just a lie. Nothing new from a politician. Stating "the election was stolen" is not a crime. It covered by first amendment free speech protections.
The attack is part of the record, beating a capitol defender to death while breaking and entering is an attack.
And BLM and Antifa have been rioting and looting across the country. Is anyone who said anything encouraging about that, or made any claim of fact (at least if the specific claim was dishonest, or honest but dubious) that lead to some outrage and violence guilty of "inciting insurrection", impeached if they are part o the federal government, and banned from most social media outlets?

It is the media that is lying. Check out the evidence I posted if you want the truth.
People that think it was stolen think so because they watched the live testimony on tv. Thy witnessed all kinds of fraud.
