Hi Walt. The arctic coast deep water port idea is not dead. The Kitikmeot Inuit Association certainly appears to be currently supporting this idea. I believe that their interest is in building and operating the necessary infrastructure (winter roads, port facilities, etc.)

Kit Resources also appears to back this strategy when they recently purchased the IZOK lake lead/zinc property to compliment their George Lake gold project. Kit appears to be trying to increase their property holdings above the critical threashold needed to justify such a costly undertaking. They will no doubt be seeking partners with BHP Minerals (Boston gold project)and other major mining operators with interesting copper and base metal projects along the arctic coast.

Whether or not the diamond players want to get involved in this early stage remains to be seen. I think that they are committed to the YK winter road supply option at this point, but who knows what the long term strategy might be.
