IB writes CFD's. But they ask for your passport info. I am guessing that is to skirt around legal jurisdictions. From what I remember CFD is illegal in the US, but EU and Canada allow it. But with online trading breaking down the geographical barriers, would it be illegal for the European IB to sell CFD to an American? Anyways, I am not even sure if CFD is illegal in the US. That is just how I remember it.
