And what do marketing and sales folks make? My grandson (marketing Penn State) started at 50K for Oracle last year, is at about 55K now... His older brother is with Microsoft.....started at 2x his bro 5 years ago..

Over the long haul your grandkids will make way more than engineers. Yes, they make a lot less out of school but in general will make more over the long haul.

STEM people are there because they have the skill and apptitude to get a degree in those disciplines, they could also go in business etc but the business guys can't do science and engineering.

Actually there are lots of business students that could do science and engineering but realize our time they'll do better on the business side. I know a number of former Intel finance folks and they all have a much better lifestyle than the engineers that create the products.

There is a shortage of hi-tech PhD's in this country and that's why hi-tech companies keep pressing the gov. for more H1Bs

Supply and demand. If engineers were paid equitably the supply would pick up.
