WOW Bull,

That is an incredible story. Now I now know where your drive and accomplishment come from.

Although we all have our athleticism memories, none so great as your family's for sure.

Being a well reasoned and accomplished investor, is a similar uniquely accomplishment few actually do achieve.

Thanks for sharing that story.

As a side note I well recall at the age of 5 or 6 the braves up against Sandy Koufax in the world series. I lived about 20 miles North of Milwaukee. I can remember our family being peeled next to the radio (no TV yet for us to enjoy). Man we've come a long way!

Then to my complete dismay the Milwaukee Braves moved to Atlanta.

At my very young age I lost heroes and was crushed, as economics didn't enter into my understanding of heroes.

Thanks for sharing your proud family heritage.

May we all hit triples consistently in life!

Bob

The post this one replies to gave a brief and partial summation of my family's Professional Baseball history. I alluded to the fact that there was more to the story near the end, and I'll add a few more quick pieces to the puzzle in this post.

I broached the subject that Tony went on to have an amazing coaching career just as he began his relationship with my mom, Betty in '88. He was hired into the Yankees Organization as an A Ball Minor League coach for the Greensboro Yankees. As Steinbrenner continuously fired coaches in the higher level leagues above him, Tony was promoted each year until, by 1990, he broke into the Maor Leagues as the Bullpen Coach, responsible for grooming & developing the talented and young Mariano Rivera.

There he is... 1st seated row, center seat, between his good friends Don Zimmer & Willie Randolph. He rose to Head Pitching Coach in '91, then fell back to the Bullpen Coach in '92, where he helped Rivera refine his skills to become the eventual GOAT. Tony was considered a key cog in the dynasty that ensued, with 4 World Series wins in the 5 year period between '96 - '00.

It just so happens that my two younger brothers (5 years younger) were highly talented professional baseball prospects. Having broken every North Carolina State Pitching and Home Run Record in Junior High and High School, they were already being scouted when Tony fell in love with mom. Imagine THEIR excitement to have a man like Tony now involved in their development. As they completed their college careers, they were immediately drafted, one by the Yankees, the other by the Cubs. Chad came into the Yankees Farm Organization with Derek Jeter, Andy Petit, Jorge Pasada, and other eventual greats.

Chad is standing on the back row, on the right side, with his head right between the two E's in YANKEES. Jeter is standing 2nd row, 4th from left. Chad had a prolific rookie year on this team, with a WHIP at 1.09. He had a dominant curve, slider & change-up, and could spot his 94mph fastball on a dime. Unfortunately, childhood shoulder & knee injuries caught up with him, and though the Yankees had him operated on by their best surgeon, the rotator cuff injuries couldn't be overcome, and he hung them up in `93. He took up golf, became an obscene talent, and is currently a +3.

One day you will see him on the Senior Tour, but for now, you can find him RIGHT HERE on TRIPLE TRADES.... under the name BIRDIEKING!! Yep, he's my little brother (actually not so little), and he's become quite the chartist/trader. In fact, I owe him a long review of his posted trades here, which according to him, have dwarfed my own recommendations. My response? So the student, has become the teacher!! BRAVO Chad!! You were a winner from day one, and your wins now only grow in stature and scope!! Keep up the good work!!

And as fate would have it, Chad and I wound up in Vegas. And considering our natural affinity for baseball, along with the gaming being the past time here, it was just a matter of time before baseball handicapping would become, at a minimum, a fun hobby. So I developed an algorithm for forecasting MLB winners, and as you can see, the early returns since 9/12/21 look promising (especially yesterday!!).
