Hmm. The gushing praise in reviews from the usual left wing media sources gives me pause...

More validation, perhaps, in the titles of his other books:

Bullshit Jobs (A Theory) by David Graeber Paperback $18.00

The Utopia of Rules: On Technology, Stupidity, and the Secret Joys of Bureaucracy by David Graeber Paperback $16.21

Had another similar experience today with "reality disappointing" ... having been directed by another to consider the promotion of Ark funds and their leadership as remarkably innovative and with truly unique insight and perspective:

Senate Impact, Upcoming Earnings, Innovation: In The Know Episode XI with Cathie Wood
youtube.com

What I found was pretty much the opposite of what was advertised... a typical center-left to left leaning "inside the bubble" view of the markets... that almost totally fails in addressing anything useful in fostering a real understanding of what's really going on... which none the less promotes itself as "cutting edge" in awareness and vision of the future... which conflicts jarringly with the mostly clueless presentation.

My quick take... is that the self promotional element in "newspeak" infects everything to such a degree now that the most mundane regurgitation of the most unimaginative opinions are boldly proclaimed as innovative and groundbreaking, etc., etc., only because they fully represent and promote the accepted orthodoxy... otherwise known as "the narrative"

I've seen only a couple short vids from WallStreetBets participants... but, they appear to me to be far more aware, and have a much better developed idea about the nature of reality and the risks that exist than Cathie has placed in evidence...

Four weeks ago, as the vid linked above... Cathie was gushing about V shaped recoveries...

Her vid a month ago postured again as "ahead of the curve" by warning us of a coming market crash... but apparently only in shares of legacy industries... not in the stocks she's selling us ?

Cathie Wood Warns Of A Stock Market Crash In "Black Hole" Industries

Closer to my opinion:

Genius Investor or a Joke ? The $50b Woman Taking Wall Street By Storm: Cathie Wood

youtube.com

I don't think she's wrong in choosing to follow others while presenting the "knowns" in innovation that is occurring...

But, I don't see much evidence she's having any impact on anything relevant with the picks she's providing.

The last vid makes that point handily...

Knowing some of what's coming in the pipeline... isn't a guarantee that one pick or another will be a winner ?

So, mostly, it looks like she's been riding the bubble... while the PR pitches the result of the bubble as "her".
