It's a "given" part of China's national transportation equation.

It also prompts me to recall the development of the U.S. Interstate Highway System. The construction of which meant the beginning of the end for rail transportation in this country. A sore mistake in my opinion.

Though I am certain it's been assigned a high priority, the construction of China's highway system remains in its infancy. It will require many years to complete, even as it did in the U.S. This, combined with continued periods of economic growth, will require maximum utilization of the railways.

China may even expand and develop high-speed rail modes.

I like it!


(Note: I suspect both the air transport and air carrier industries have had a hand in subduing any attempt at expanding the railway system in the U.S. Both air and rail facilities are budgeted from within the same Congressional Committee. An easy target for the airline lobbyists.)
