Silver can't be replaced... which doesn't mean you should make socks from it... or think that matters ?

The quibble isn't relevant in market terms.

Copper oxidizes as much or more than silver... under load stress ? That they're not removing the silver from copper now... does actually improve copper utility in many applications... including enhancing mechanical properties as well as electronic... while reducing its tendency to oxidize ?

There are other easier paths to preventing surface oxidation that don't involve reducing the core performance...

I expect, as it gets more expensive.... there won't be much substitution... but there probably will be a lot of minimization of bulk in applications where a little less would work just as well... where it costs more to use less. Higher prices will shift that balance.
