Bob, also info for Britain indicates 1997 was worst outbreak of meningitis for half a century. More than 2,300 cases with 240 deaths and they ere still counting expecting to surpass the 1947 total of 2,500 with estimate given as 2,700. BTW if the articles correct that 60% of the cases also have septicaemia then the death rate might be close to 17 %. But I do not believe that 60% of the total have blood poisoning even thugh the reporter was getting the info from the Meningitis Research Foundation.
