That sounds like a plausible outcome...so bitcoin can be weaponized against the US dollar and there are those positioned and motivated to do so. Perhaps, the US outlawing bitcoin makes it more dangerous to the dollar and not less and perhaps, this is already realized.

In which case, they must to something more subtle, more spy like to try and take it down. Cyber warfare, hacking wallets and exchanges, and the like along with a media blitz of sad stories of grandma losing her life savings because she put it all into bitcoin and was hacked...

Good summary TJ. That's as I see it. Plus all the little people in Zimbabwe, Fiji, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Venezuela + 2 billion others.
