Isn't that the problem with conservatives. They stopped learning? Dems believed in global warming because science says it's true. Republicans were told it's not true so it took them decades to accept science. This is why so few scientists are republicans. They lack imagination, and most of all intellectual curiosity. Google the 1619 Project. It blows a hole in why our country was founded. Basically they say the British passed laws and court rulings that forbade the children of slaves from becoming slaves. The US territories saw this and wanted out as fast as possible. They wanted the children of slaves to be slaves also so that's why they had a revolution. While I'm still pondering this concept it's an interesting idea. It is true the British had court rulings and new laws on child slavery and it is true that a country founded on "freedom" denied freedom to two races but there are a few holes that need filling. US slaves left their masters and joined the British during the Revolutionary War so even they were aware of the laws.
