A 1997 study by Congress’s Joint Committee on Taxation found that because of how capital gains taxes are calculated, many citizens are forced to pay taxes on investment “gains” when in reality they have suffered losses due to the deterioration of purchasing power. Deterioration of purchasing power is also called inflation. The main cause of inflation is deficit spending. What say granny Aynne?
