S&P 500 and 10-yr Treasury note now have the same yield

Feb 25, 10:55 a.m. Eastern

[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 has an estimated dividend yield of 1.50%, and so does the 10-year (+11 bps).

The S&P 500 benchmark index is currently down 1.0% at session lows amid losses in nine of its 11 sectors.

While this may not be surprising for those observing the market over the past month, it is a bit surprising to see the 2-yr yield trading five basis points higher at 0.18% today despite Fed Chair Powell suggesting the central bank will stay accomodative for the foreseeable future.

The sharp moves in rates isn't the most conducive environment for risk sentiment.

The 5-yr Treasury note yield is up 15 basis points to 0.75%. The U.S. Dollar Index is down 0.4% to 89.83.
