Bill...if it weren't for the DEC acquisition, CPQ would have been at or near 40 by now, IMHO. Stephen

OR 3) The analysts are right and you will not see any benefits for awhile and Wall Street prefers not to put it's money in something that won't pay off for awhile.

All i know is the dow up 400 in the last few days and Compaq up 1. Great company!!! Wrong time???

william, the dec and the tandem purchase will be looked at as the
coup of the decade...market analyst don't know all this stuff.
they just drop stks on mergers.
then pick them up later.
after cpq releases the plans of merger that will be enough for a partial pop.
then during execution things rock and roll.
i would not take a stk price of 40 now and no dec purchase.
the loser in this is dell long term.
i wish dell had made this purchase.
dell needed dec in the worse way...
but, the dec purchase has been in the works for 2 yrs by dec and cpq.
my guess is they have a detailed plan that makes operation desert storm look like kindergarden homework.

Bill, how about No.3? I thought I heard of an 18% price cut on their under 1000 PC's. That could have done it.
