OFF TOPIC Re: EV Speedfam didn't participate too much today, but then neither did most small caps. If you go to my first Pick of the Month, Applix in April 97, you'll see me use EV. I also use it in my article Beam Up a Bargain in Broadcasting at Microsoft Investor investor.msn.com Search the articles by author and look under my name to see my use of it there. I use it other places, but not everywhere because EV is not always appropriate, especially in turnaround/ spinoff situations where debt (which detracts from EV) is not the fault of present or future operations - as in the case of current article Finding Value in Fast Food. EV has been around since long before I was born - and long before the Fools as well! Mike
