Any loan is a voluntary contract between two willing entities fully knowledgeable of the terms.

To "forgive" student loans is a misnomer. The loan isn't forgiven. Repayment is simply shifted from the student to the taxpayer. If we "forgive" student loans, why not "forgive" mortgages entered into by those who buy more house than they can afford? Or "forgive" auto loans on exotic expensive cars that the buyer cannot afford yet the buyer entered into voluntarily.

If you take out a loan, you are obligated to pay it back. No one put a gun to your head forcing you to take out the loan. Period!
