Comments by the big hitters in this weeks Barron's substantiate many of your views. Refer to the "paradigm shift" comments on the computer industry as it relates to the growth of servers and the shift away from desktop applications. Very intresting. Not the kind of stuff that makes you want to buy at these levels.

Your thoughts were expressed well.

Teri, >4. People tend to invest in the equipment stocks thinking there will be instant gratification. I just don't see that during the first 2-3 quarters of '98.< I concur with you that historically AMAT the following year following a big runup is the year for the lowest gain.

My actual RANGE prediction for AMAT for 1998 using the DW verticle method of calculation is $53 through $68 using the BW horizontal method. Since, I in my 1997 AMAT high projection was low at $62 I added $2 to my current $68 projection to make it $70. But, I will settle for anywhere from $53-$68 for this year. Another reason for my optimism is using Tom Oneal, "cup and handle" which takes into account the momentum buyer.

Who knows what Wall Street will do with the hype.

Just my opinion.
