I heard that Mr Fink is still handling the case for E-Data. Part of his reason for re-locating was to be near his daughter and grandchildren. As GRC has said, for the "little stuff" he can employ local counsel to "cover it". For the "real thing" he is a 2 hour flight away from White Plains, just north of NYC. C'mon, Judge Jones!

CC:

I agree, not much to say lately. However, I know many lawyers, particularly IP (patent) lawyers. I'd guess at least half of them have moved (to another city and job) at least once in their careers. Patent law is a very high demand specialty, and they are always jumping around. At one time in my life I worked with about 20 patent lawyers. Of the 20, only three had not had major moves in their patent careers. I don't think it means much to move. I do agree that if he gets more money elsewhere, he will pay more attention elsewhere. Our hope is that he thinks we could win, and his pay would therefore increase in value dramatically. If he thinks we will lose, he has no incentive.
