qdog - In the early article that you posted the ETSI deal is protecting at fair price, IPR's. It's much do to about nothing.

I disagree on that, it is mandating price controls. The market is a
better mechanism for that.


Think of it this way, Qualcomm would be selling their product to a conglomerate instead of just one company, assuming that they get a reasonable price. What's so anti-competitive about that?

As for setting standards, your favorite company and mine, MSFT, is a big hater of standards. They always do everything they can to squash standards precisely because standards open them up to too much competition. Standards are not always a bad thing.
