The whole issue is a bit weird. I don't know of any similar situations in which a protocol has become an arguing point. It's just so foriegn in the networking world. Even in the old NeWS vs X wars, it was less the 'protocol' than the whole remote graphics model. I suspect that ICA/X/RDP will just co-exist for a while, and the market will determine what companies continue to succeed.
