Jamie, We tend to forget men like Lance Armstrong don't we? Lance was injected with drugs by the US government for the express purpose of showcasing America's superiority in long-distance bicycling? When we look at total stripped medals Russia is at the top but China has far fewer than the US. The original assertion was that America focuses too much on sports while communist countries like Russia and China focus more on education. I already debunked your assertion with examples from East Germany and the former Soviet Union, two countries that focused intensely on sports, especially Olympic sports, with the express purpose of showcasing the superiority of communism. The doping scandals and the Sochi corruption under Putin are just the continuation of Soviet-era sports. As for China, their sports programs are completely, 100% controlled by the state, and they are well-funded. The girls in the Chinese gymnastics teams are told to lie about their ages. In both diving and gymnastics, girls are practically chosen and forced by the state to become Olympic athletes. It's all part of Chinese nationalism. China does put a good focus on education, but I guarantee you that they also put a premium on sports. It's all part of their communist agenda, to prove that China's communism is vastly superior to anything else in the world. Tenchusatsu
