Yes,it definitely has that element to it, in the "cycle of violence". The key difference being chickens and eggs are both considered goods...which we have no problem killing and consuming... without harming the persistence of chickens, while we want to avoid eliminating them. While abuse and violence have a similar relationship in one spawning the other into the next generation in an endless cycle... but we don't seem to be able to kill the thing, at all... when we'd prefer it be made extinct. I'm not claiming to have more of an idea than others about how best to fix it... but at least recognize addressing symptoms rather than causes is likely a false prescription... while addressing symptoms in a way that amplifies causes can't possibly help. First, do no harm... seems a good place to start.
