Man threatens to cut, shoot Brooklyn Home Depot customer, latest in surge of disturbing anti-Asian crimes in NYC New York Daily News, by John Annese Original Article A racist brandished a two-by-four and yelled anti-Asian insults at a man at a Brooklyn Home Depot last week amid a disturbing surge of anti-Asian hate crimes, authorities said. The 28-year-old victim and his girlfriend were shopping at the Home Depot on Gateway Drive in Starrett City about 7:40 p.m. Friday when a stranger holding a block of wood began menacing him, cop sources said.(Snip) He then threatened the victim directly, warning, “I’ll cut you, you [expletive] Asian. Don’t call anyone. I’m a Blood, I’ll shoot you,” sources said. The victim reported the incident to police Monday afternoon and the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating, cops said. Police describe the suspect as a Black man with a thin build and a scar near one eye. So far this year, there have been 31 anti-Asian crimes in the city compared with 11 in the same timeframe in 2020.

Trump’s Favorability Soars In Iowa... Trump’s Favorability Soars In Iowa–Highest Since March 2020 Trump’s approval continues to soar. A new poll found that 53% of Iowa voters now have a favorable view of Trump. This is the highest since March 2020, the beginning of the COVID pandemic. From USA Today: Out of the daily spotlight and openly flirting with another White House bid, former President Donald Trump will return to Iowa on Saturday with better favorability ratings than he ever saw while president. The latest Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll shows 53% of Iowans now have a favorable view of the former Republican president and 45% have an unfavorable view — his best showing ever on either metric in the Iowa Poll. Another 2% are not sure how they feel about Trump. The numbers come as Trump begins to reengage with the state that is expected to kick off the 2024 presidential nominating process for Republicans. And they show favorable feelings for him have not waned in his absence. The same can’t be said for Joe Biden. A poll out of Iowa found Biden’s approval at 31%.
