The way I invest in small caps is only suitable if you know the industry and you live in an area where there are lots of startups. A disadvantage of the approach is that it takes up lots of time - I get involved in everything from financials to product design to negotiating deals to doing real work when resource constraints arise ... This approach is certainly not suitable for most people but I enjoy it.

Looks like a small cap blowout is in the making. Russell 2000 outperforming strongly today after lagging badly in the early phase of this rally. Russell 2000 could easily jump 10-20% over the next 4-6 weeks.

On a less happy note, small cap blowouts are usually followed by steep market declines as occurred last fall.
