I'm not too impressed with his real life portfolio though. Also, a problem with his (and much other) research is that much of it is based on back-testing.
Yes Tobias Carlisle portfolio is low EBIT/EV stocks. He has backtested this and claims it works better than the Magic Formula (which uses EBIT/EV and ROIC or ROA). I listed to his podcast which is pretty good, especially the value after hours with Bill Brewster and Jake Taylor.

FWIW, many things that coworker well with backtesting did not work in the future. I also wonder about the logic why a simple screen by one metric (EBIT/EV) would work at all. Well, I guess it is contrarian, but contrarian by itself is not necessarily working either. (Just ask Grantham‘s investors). So I agree that I am not sure that his portfolio, which is implement in the $ZIG ETF will work (so far it hasn’t).
