As a general rule, it's a wise move for the EU and the US to have more security in their local manufacturing base. Since both already have vibrant semi industries that are thriving, picking a target date 8 to 10 years out should not be an issue, if these governments are truly focused on supporting them.

As you've stated recently, the move towards more semis everywhere, in nearly everything imaginable (and new things we may not even be considering today) is a non-stop force. The balancing act between over manufacturing older technology and staying in front of the curve is a massive undertaking. There will be starts and stops...that's for sure!

Hi Sam,

There are billions of lost Dollars and many sinbleached bones along the development trail of leading edge semiconductors.

Especially when the money being dumped into the competitive ranks is sovereign money intended to buy a leadership role in the global market.

I just think of how South Korea over invested to be king in memory. It took years for bankruptcies and capitulation to create a rational allocation of capital in the industry.

More newbies in the game makes me fear excess capacity all over again.

Lean efficiency and debt free is the safest business model for those times.

Intel used to be are they anymore?

BRKS is debt free.

Cohu is going to be by Q 1 2022 with there recent 4.95 million share secondary.

Can anyone else make that claim?

Bob
