The point is spot on...

The differences being only in the "rules"... which in established financial markets have imposed limits which "they say" are intended to protect small investors, but always seem to work instead to harm small investors and protect the wealthy and the giant banks from the little guys...

Many examples... the most obvious recently:

Only the wealthy allowed to participate in early stage venture capital... and, once they're done with their private vanity projects... they can SPAC them to the masses before the market crashes... making the market much less risky than a casino... for the house.

Markets will always be composed of wolves and sheep... the rules won't change that...

Fewer rules could make the market much more fair... might even work to make investors smarter over time... but, that's also what exists in crypto now... is an end around the rules that do operate to constrain other "investment"... PayPal not being regulated as a currency trading boutique... as good example.

And, a lot of the resistance to crypto that should be expected... will only arise as it does begin to threaten the fiefdoms of the powers that be... who are slow to figure out that the impact intends to turn the tables and let the little guy win big, for once...

It is still just a choice of casinos... in which knowing the rules of each of the casinos you use is equally important... but the impact of the rules might be significantly different in one versus the other....

The ultimate answer to questions about the nature and impact of crypto on the global economy... isn't known yet... and it isn't knowable yet... But, you also don't need to know the future impact of electric vehicles to win a short term trade in TSLA ?

So, I'll not argue that one should not trade cryptos... rather than argue that one should win their trades... without counting on the outcome of a trade to change the world... rather than change the balances in trading accounts.
