I believe more earnings warnings are in the works. Also, companies will face stiff competition from foreign (esp. SEA) goods due to continued currency devaluations. Finally, companies have already indicated they will reduce capital spending to work on the year 2000 problem. Remember year 2000 is an expense, it does not add to the bottom line, rather it subtracts from it.
