"The only stock that I recommend is to short QCOM as it pops back up. I am so negative on QCOM. Long-term investors should ask"

Anybody looking at shorting the airlines out there? Specifically: U and TWA. Looks like things can't get much better for these MoMO riders. A little hop oil prices could start the avalanche.

Nice call on QCOM, you peaked my interest yesterday so I took a look at it and made a few phone calls. I shorted a little today, planning on increasing my positionover the next couple weeks. Oh well. Looks like we're going to rake it in tomorrow. Again nice call!

Hi Clint,

Sorry for the late response. I had my computer hard drive crash
last week and I had more meetings than I can shake a stick at.
Some times I seem to spend more time in meeting than actually
doing engineering work.

>> Never had a need for FFs with 5G/sec toggle rate!!!

I can tell you're no fun at parties. : )

Nice call on QCOM. I have been expecting margins to decline as more
handset manufacturers came on line. It looks like given the product
mix their operating margins are declining faster than anyone expected.
It looks like US service providers are targeting the new non-business
cellular telephone users like the Canadian Carriers. The result being
that there is greater demand for low margin Q phones. The delayed
release of their dual mode phone does not help either.

I know that NT is trying to cut QCOM out on the infrastructure side for
their next generation of CDMA. The royalties to QCOM are making
margins in the wirless infrastructure business less than in their
other businesses and NT is being aggressive about increasing
their margins in this product line.

It looks like you created a bit of a stir over on the QCOM thread. : )
That is one of the reasons I rarely post an opinion on a stock
specific thread. People get too attached to their stocks.

Did you get a chance to listening to the NN conference call? I was
too busy during the week and when I checked on Friday night
the replay had expired. I am looking for specifics on
the nature of the TDM slow down and in what particular product lines.
Was the problem only in Asia or are they having problems in other
regions of the world.

I would stay away from NN right now. They have embrassed quite
a few analysts recently as a result of their poor guidance. Just before
their last earnings warning one analyst gave an upgrade and another
analyst was about to do the same thing I don't think they have
many friends on Wall Street right now. Given the poor guidance the
company has been giving, most analyst will want to see proof of
a turn around before they upgrade and put their reputations on the line.
I saw one report giving NN a fair value of 25 dollars CND. That is still
quite a few percentage points below the current level. The fact that this
target is now public means any overall market down turn will get the
price of NN there in a hurry.

Let's see how high the mutual funds can push the market before
they run out of money. I get the impression many fund managers
are now panic buying so as not to miss the boat on this current
uptrend. The SPY and OEX have reached new highs but IBM and HWP
the old technology bell weathers are still on the defensive. TLAB still
looks a short at the top of its current channel. On the other hand
stocks like ASND, INTC and TXN have broken out from their bear
channels. Options expiration should create some volatility too.
