Court suspends use of Lessig news.com

Quaint phraseology, that. It's a stay, not a final ruling; no word on who the judge was.

Microsoft welcomed the ruling and said it looked forward to presenting its case in the appeals court and the trial court.

"We're pleased with this decision. We view this a very positive step, but it's only one step in the whole process," Microsoft spokesman Tom Pilla told Reuters. "We believe that this case is critical to consumers and the future health of the U.S. software industry."

Well, who could disagree with that last sentence? Now, are the consumers the suckers still buying the much dreaded original Windows95 at retail, or the OEMs who look to Ballmer as the "good cop" in their dealings with Microsoft? Probably have to wait till tomorrow for the full story on this.

Cheers, Dan.
