Leo,

(off topic)

yup DEC has had the fasted chip on the planet for the last 5 years....it's just that no-one cares. The old software/hardware chicken and egg syndrome. Their alphas will remain in the hi-end workstation arena exclusively for some time IMHO (unless the hard-core gamers happen to win the lotteries).

Should be really interesting to see what Compaq actually does with it....and the subsequent impact on the Merced wet-dream. I would expect them to ditch the MIPs chips in their Tandem machines, and go with the much faster Alphas.

With the Intel patent buy, your question on the strongarm is a good one.... I hope they don't manage to kill it (shouldn't since it has a good portable/industrial market niche). I don't hold much hope for the Corel NC implementation tho.
