To all:
The rumors that are flying about S3 being bought by HP are
a bunch of BS. Everytime a stock gets hit hard rumors start flying
about someone buying them. Sounds like desperate shareholders
hoping for a miracle. Remember when Intel was going to buy
S3 or Crus. Now I do not doubt that there could be a merger
with another graphics company. There must be some consolidation
in this market. Not enough OEM's and big retail customers to go
around for 40+ graphics companies.
S3 stated it will lose money the next 2 quarters. If their new products
are as good as speculated on this thread and there is no more
delays, S3 has a good chance to survive and turn profitable. If
they fail to execute they will go the way of Weitek, Nine, Tseng.
Terry Holtd has taken some positive steps to turn this ship around.
It will take at least 6 months. The teck. stocks have taken off and
even with a couple of design wins the stock did not budge. You
will still be able to buy this stock under $6.00 in June, but if S3
is successful with their product and the market is still favorable
and Intel does not muddie the waters so much I believe S3 can
finish the year over $10.00. Downsde risk $3.00
