Your circles are obviously limited. So far have not met a single S African of any shade I did not like

Very odd, on the face of it

Perhaps try walking by night in random GPS locations. Or being a white farmer.

In Japan no problem. Singapore too. Beijing benign. USA I was not even safe mid day in sundry sites. Living in Brixton 45 years ago was good. Don't know so ok now. Carnage in South Africa is normal so I guess you'd find unpleasant people with little effort.

50 years ago Kiwis would buy a vehicle in England, holiday around Europe and drive home via Europe, Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Burma, down to Singapore, then by ship to NZ or Oz for more driving. Normal and no aggro. Not recommended or possible these days.

In general, around the world, people are good. But in Japan a lost wallet will be returned. Not in Beijing. It's hard enough to even get change in Beijing, and forget about good quality.
