ACRO's ACT transmitter: If a station's analog transmitter is worn out but the station won't be converting to digital, here's where the ACT beats the competition. The station buys a 120 kW and runs each side at 30 kW analog. There's a huge gain in tube life. In 5 yrs, the station converts to simulcast. It fires up both sides of the ACT and simulcasts. Then comes the day analog is phased out. Just convert the analog side to digital. There are huge savings here for stations far-sighted enough to cost out their options. The ACT looks better and better.
