It seems to me the US Government has done everything possible to fuel speculation--the cap gains tax cut, low rates. Whey the heck cant they do something to encourage savings--I just got done doing my taxes, and I get so burned up that I am taxed on what little I made from my savings account, CDs and money markets. If I didn't think I'd get kicked off SI, I'd key in a bunch of expletives right here just to enunciate my anger. My lousy $1000 of interest income IS NOT income--it's my savings you morons, stop taxing it when I save it, and again when I spend it. So glad to have got that off my chest, apologies to the thread.
