<A> Newbridge Networks Stock -2: TDM Sales Drop To Continue

A spokesman for Newbridge Networks Corp. (NN) said the company saw declining sales "across the board" in its time division multiplexer, or TDM, business, as customers migrated to ATM, or asynchronous transfer mode, networks. ATM networks are faster and have more capacity than TDM networks.

Newbridge generates about 70% of its TDM revenue from sales in Asia, Europe and Latin America.

Newbridge expects its TDM sales to drop to between 35% and 37% of total revenue in the third quarter ended Jan. 31, which would be down from 44% in the second quarter of the current fiscal year, the spokesman said.

The Newbridge spokesman declined to comment on the size of the charge the company plans to take in the third quarter to restructure its Local Area Network, or LAN, business to account for the weak performance of its UB Networks division.

The agreement also supports Ericsson's plans to perform systems integration and equipment management for Internet service providers.

See that S on the end. That means not just Split Rock.

Yes, I see that. But didn't Bay, and LU have a similar "S"?

As for Ericsson, they're a PBX manufacturer. What does everyone think about their ability to sell ATM - a fairly technical sell.
