Re <<What I want to know is who are the nascent Paypal or eBay in this space>>

Am wondering and have zero basis so far, believing that perhaps we are even too early to see hints of nascent PayPal or eBay - maybe 8-12 months away. We were just at CompuServe phase, and bumbling into AOL time.

Whomever plays those roles should have some talking power, and talking power in the new universe is based on ownership or otherwise call on digital capital. In such a case the king-makers are still out there, perhaps an MSTR if they have vision.

Interesting puzzle.

Re NFT and such, friend who advises EU central banks says

In such a world one would presumably want to use memory of value that is not beholden to national authorities either singly or in any block

... and if tokenisation involves layer #1 that be the tokens, and layer #2 that be assets glued onto the tokens, and layer #3 ...

the 'industry' is still searching for the 'best' layer #1, and the first-mover is perhaps Ethereum mysterium.network which is far from perfect and is not yet done

early days and young night

this effort and other efforts might find elbow room in a game that remains open coinlist.co

heavy reading docs.casperlabs.io and all can still become pseudo expert

Confirmed w/ my gurus group that, the way to look at matters Layers 1 ... 3

Layer #1: blockchain (~internet)

Layer #2: tokens / including NFTs (just another special token) (~CompuServe / AOL e-mails)

Layer #3: companies making money from people using tokens / NFTs (Pet.com, Amazon etc)

Enablers: Softbank, PayPal, whatever back then and now

There are no publicly listed Layer #3s yet, and all private

As blood cells are to the living organism, tokens are blood cells

How much are good robust fast multiplying (in the case of BTC, fast having decimal moving to the left) cells worth?

MSTR and SQ may just turn out to be hoarders unless they at some juncture decide to do something w/ their hoard besides selling them

I may have understood the group, but likely close enough.

Conclusion, even as fortunes are being made / transferred, we are in seriously early days.

Get blood cells, humanely if possible, but get the cells. The good cell is the easy to transfuse / on-board cell, useful to commerce, safe, fast, and well marketed, doing stuff serving a clear economic purpose (Amazon vs Pets.com), and first up, likely in the finance, real estate, IP trading spaces

Next up, look for private deals that show promise, staffed by people ~20 years of age, guided by ~30 years of age, overmatched by 50-60 yrs young
