I'm in agreement that the Compaq factories are much more efficient, and that CPQ regularly strives to raise the bar on productivity. This is one of the things that makes them great IMO.

I was just pointing out that many have talked in the past of how much more efficient the direct distribution model is and how much risk Compaq would be taking if they tried to use it in a serious fashion. There's the potential of a channel revolt.

By having two brands of PC, this can provide a best of both world's situation where everyone gets what they want.
